A Second wedding fayre

The weekend went so fast, we had another Wedding fayre this Sunday, this time at the Kent county cricket ground in Canterbury Kent.
Xena helped me again this week.
We had lots more couples asking about the roses, all the different colours they were going to have for the weddings....
Lots of cards were taken so i hope to have some emails later on.

Notonthehighstreet.com Then type in the search box Pretty Paper Roses

Last year i joined a great online website called Notonthehighstreet.
Some of my bouquets are selling on there for valentines day as well as anniversary gifts and wedding arrangements now so i am really pleased.
Off to do some food shopping now.

My first wedding fayre

This Sunday i had the chance to have a stall at the wedding fayre which was held at the Ashford International Hotel in Kent.
I was so looking forward to this and had a lovely day .
Xena our niece came along to help me, and i could not have managed with out her.... especially with my bad leg and crutch's.
Well lots of people have taken my cards so i will see if they decide to have paper roses for their wedding decorations.

It is amazing how many different choices in colours the brides have from Green, Grey, Black, Aqua, Pink, i told each of them i can paint the roses to match the colour they chose.
Well i will see what happens.

I am trying to encourage Xena to sell some of her fantastic art she paints... here are some pictures of her most recent work. They are very large 5' x 3' acrylic on canvas.
I have put them on ebay for her, she has already sold quite a few through a local gallery.
I love them.

Spring decorating

Well i have been very busy since the Christmas holiday, trying to get the house straight and dreaming up new ideas for the decorating that i am looking forward to doing.
Still not sure of the colour to pick for the back kitchen door... i love the farrow and ball colours and will choose for sure next week.
Our back door is the type called stable door, i have always wanted one ever since a was a tiny girl.
I remember watching a children's program and in it was a door that i was fascinated by, one that split in half, the first thing i asked my husband for when we moved into our house was my own one just like it.
I wonder what todays children will remember from their programs and if they will dream of having the same in their home later.

Nearly Christmas

I have started to decorate the house this weekend..well the tree and window frames so far.
Today i will be making some old style paper chains, the ones that are just strips of paper looped and glued/stapled and then looping the next one through.
i have chosen some old fashioned looking gift wrap that i brought at Tenterden in Kent this weekend, i will fold it double so the inside will be coloured too.

In Tenterten there are such pretty shops and the steam railway had all the lights and a lovely carousel all lit up too
I brought some pretty white decorations, a big paper bell which i love.... and also white lacey bunting.
These are to go in my kitchen.
Hope to post some pictures soon when i have finished.

Wedding shop

What a beautiful weekend, the weather was so lovely it was like August down in Kent.
We took a drive through the country lanes, i love getting lost and just arriving at a place that you would never have seen otherwise....
I saw a sign for The secret garden, of course with a name like that you have to take a look.
Turning into the gravel driveway i wondered what we would find.
The secret garden was a restaurant, which was not open, on closer inspection around a pretty courtyard was a tiny doorway, well i had to see what was behind that door....a lovely wedding dress shop, i had a look at all the wonderful dresses and shoes tiaras and flowers, speaking to the owner i told her about my roses and the commissions i have had for wedding bouquets and venue decorating.

Well the outcome could be promising, i am going to make up samples to take along in a couple of weeks, as the owner is moving to a larger unit on the same site she said she may be interested in decorating her shop with my roses...i will do my best and see what comes.

Spent some time at Rye again, the Mermaid inn is so magical.... i will never tire of walking up the cobbled road to see the hotel and peer through the windows, maybe one day i will get to stay in the four poster room.

New website

Over the last few weeks i have been organising a website as a different way to reach more customers... also a proper site to advertise my Paper Roses on.

The name i have chosen is paperrosesonline.co.uk

I am going to try to email magazines and see if they will be able to use the roses in the feature displays.

This weekend i spent a lovely day in Hythe in Kent.
Beautiful church with a difference...under the church there are hundreds of skulls all piled up leaving a small aisle to walk through.
So many different shapes and sizes of skulls.

I made sure to visit all the antique and secondhand shops along the high street, brought lots of lovely old books most of them costing a pound or less, farmhouse kitchen cook book was one.

The weather was perfect for a stroll along the beach at Littlestone
Lovely weather and a great weekend.

Walk around Rye

On Saturday i had the chance to spend some time in Rye in Sussex
The streets were packed with shoppers and a wedding was taking place.
The church has a very special feature, the chance to climb up and take a look across the rooftops above the lovely houses and surrounding fields.

I had a look in all the lovely shops, a favorite of mine is called Forget me not Rye.
Couldn't resist their Lavender pillow mist and Lavender soap also some serviettes with lovely roses on them.
The haberdashery shop.... had to get pretty ric rac and ribbon, another lovely shop.
Halloween is almost here so i brought Black and Orange card to make into trick or treat cones, ready to fill with sweets.
This week i have orders to make and will be adding some wreaths and Christmas decorations to my Ebay and notonthehighstreet shop, so must get on......

The last rose of summer

'Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming all alone,
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone.
No flower of her kindred,
No rose bud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one,
To pine on the stem;
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go sleep thou with them;
'Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o'er the bed
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.

So soon may I follow
When friendships decay,
And from love's shining circle
The gems drop away!
When true hearts lie withered
And fond ones are flown
Oh! who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?

I have always loved this poem...

Dungeness Again

Hope your weekend was as good as mine,we had a lovely weekend away at the seaside.
I don't know why i am so drawn to the sea, i stand and look at the waves for ages and feel so fantastic afterwards.
The place i love more than any where in the world is dungeness.... near the power station!! i go there every week if i can and i would love to live there, but sadly the prices of the little houses that are lovely wooden huts are way beyond my reach.
Who knows though what the future will hold, i dream of my life on the beach making my Paper Roses from my little wooden house with a vintage airstream caravan outside and living happily ever after.
I will just have to dream for now.

My new banner

Over the weekend i was very lucky to win my new autumn banner from isabellascloset blog competition , i am so pleased and surprised. i have changed my colours to match, she is so clever please take a look at her blog.

We had a good weekend and even went to the beach at Camber Sands on Saturday had a paddle and collected some seashells too.

I really do miss taking the children its so different now that they are all grown up.
We rang them from the beach, they know how much we miss it.

My chickens are still alive and well, i feed them and and look at them they look back they seem happy.... i am going to put a mirror in so they can have a look at their selves.
Have a lovely week.
